Filava™ – the high-performance mineral fibre – an excellent substitute for aramids at particularly high temperatures
Filava™ is a filament yarn that is obtained from volcanic rock and other mineral additives in the melt spinning process. Filava™ stands for maximum tensile strength combined with excellent alkali and good chemical resistance. In terms of its high temperature resistance of up to 730 °C and its tolerance of high temperature fluctuations, Filava™ is clearly superior to comparable glass fibers and steel fibers. In addition, the material has a high modulus of elasticity and can be used in many applications as a substitute for numerous aramid and carbon fibers.
